William D. Pappas Training Center Designated
Chief Bill Pappas has been with the North Sioux City Fire Department since 1986 and has served as our Fire Chief since 1989. That’s over 35 years of leadership, service, and commitment to this profession, our department, and most importantly this community.
Chief has been a steady leader through major changes, helped build the department into what it is today, and most importantly, he’s spent his career teaching and supporting the next generation.
Every member who has walked through our doors has learned something from Chief Pappas.
One thing that’s always been clear: training matters to him. He’s believed from the beginning that the best way to keep our team safe and prepared is through hands-on, realistic training. Due to his dedication, leadership, and persistence; we finally have a facility to match that vision.
This training center has been over 20 years in the making. It didn’t happen overnight But it’s here now because Chief Pappas never let go of the dream. He just kept pushing forward, one step at a time. This building is a direct reflection of his long-term commitment to safety, to learning, and to the future of this department.
Chief, your dedication has left a lasting mark on every part of this department. And now, your name will stand as a reminder to everyone who walks through these doors of what it means to lead, to serve, and to never stop learning.
It is our honor today to officially designate this facility the William D. Pappas Training Center.
Thank you, Chief.
