25 years ago today, America woke up to a beautiful September morning that would soon become one of the darkest days in our nation’s history.
On September 11, 2001, nearly 3,000 innocent lives were taken. Among them were 343 FDNY firefighters, along with law enforcement officers, EMS personnel, and countless innocent civilians.
While thousands were trying to escape, first responders were running toward the danger. Firefighters climbed the towers, police officers helped evacuate the streets and buildings, and EMTs and paramedics worked tirelessly to save lives—many knowing they might not make it home themselves.
Behind every number was a person—a parent, spouse, child, friend, coworker, or neighbor who was loved and expected to come home that night.
Today, 25 years later, we remember every life lost, honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice, and stand with the families who have carried that loss ever since.
We also remember how America responded. Neighbors helped neighbors, strangers helped strangers, and communities across the country came together as one.
May we continue to tell their stories, honor their sacrifice, and teach future generations why we made a promise that day:
Never Forget. 🇺🇸
